The Eustachian tube is a small passage that runs from the back of the nose to the middle ear. This tube helps to drain any fluid that accumulates in the middle ear. When this tube becomes blocked, fluid can't drain properly and an infection can develop.
One of the most common causes of a blocked Eustachian tube is subluxations of the vertebrae in the neck. These subluxations can occur because of various reasons such as poor posture, traumatic births, falls, or sports injuries. When these subluxations are present, they cause muscle tension and stiffness which can lead to a misalignment of the jaw. This misalignment puts pressure on the Eustachian tube and prevents it from functioning properly.
Chiropractic care can help to prevent ear infections by correcting these subluxations and restoring proper alignment to the jaw. This allows the Eustachian tube to drain properly and prevents fluid from accumulating in the middle ear. In addition, chiropractic care can also help to strengthen the immune system, which further reduces the risk of developing an ear infection.
